Based on there being one creator God, also known as Chukwu.

There is also the belief that ancestors protect their living descendants and are responsible for rain, harvest, health and children. Shrines, called Mbari, are made in honor of the earth spirit and contain tableaux of painted earth. Other shrines keep wooden figures representing ancestors and patrons. The Igbo religion has slowly changed to Christianity over the years. In Enugu State there are churches where people can pray. There are two different types of churches in Enugu State there are Catholic and Protestant, churches so there are mainly two types of religion from the Igbo. The Igbo people were people that believed more in their religion than they did in themselves. The igbo man was so involved with his religion that his daily life has changed so much that no one can recognize that he is different. " Igbo Traditional religion on the other hand involves all the beliefs, practices and ritual elements that have been handed down from one generation to another.it is one of the richest of cultural heritages of the Igbo because they are obdurately religious."2
The Three main gods the main gods the Igbo people worship "includes God, non-human gods and spirits."2 These three forms the pillars
on which the belief system of the religion of the traditional religion of Ndi Igbo."2 The Igbo people believe that god made little gods to help him form and create the world into what we see now and the ancestors are here so that they can help with potential prophecies that can come true some later time in the future.
